Photoshop – LAB Your Colors! 5 Steps to Make Your Colors Pop!

1) Assuming you’ve opened your image in PhotoShop, you’ll probably be in RGB mode, by default. Go to Mode >> Lab Color.

2) In LAB mode, add a Curves Adjustment Layer.

3) Select the “a” channel and move the input and output point one grid in on both ends of the spectrum. Making sure that both are moved the same amount.

Repeat for the “b” channel. The important point to remember is that the graph must be SYMMETRICAL. So whatever amount you’ve chosen on the left side of the graph must match the right side.

Naturally, you can increase the saturation more or less by dragging the “a” and “b” points further, then adjust the opacity to taste.
