With the big boys (Canon, Nikon, Sony) and even the medium boys (Olympus, Panasonic, Fuji) playing safe, the digital camera world has been quite boring since the full-frame race, the megapixel race, and clean-ISO-at-6400 race have fizzled.
Thank goodness for Samsung’s craziness the past 12 months in keeping the digital camera news exciting — and here’s another one!
Android Mirrorless Galaxy Camera NX
The rumours early this year was there will be a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy Camera (see review), meaning, it’ll be a point-and-shoot, possibly with more advanced optics and sensors. Turns out, the Galaxy Camera NX is a different beast altogether.
- 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor
- Full HD 1080p video recording
- ISO up to 25,600
- 4.3-inch, 960 x 540-pixel touchscreen
- Optical viewfinder, popup flash
That’s a huge screen for those uninitiated with the current Galaxy Camera. With a larger body shell, this’ll even feel bigger than ever. I hope they have the battery technology to keep up with all the screen requirements and processing power.
Expect an announcement on the 20th of June 2013.
